. . . . .
ELEVEN Sun City - see up close the smallest swimmer to win Olympic Gold since the 1920 Olympics. This is living proof that technique is more important than size in swimming. Sheila teaches with understanding, passion, and laughter.
Not only is the time spent informative, but it is fun and about more than just swimming.... it is about the thought processes that make champions.

Sheila Taormina:

  • The only woman to compete in three different sports in different Olympiads
  • 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing, Modern Pentathlon, 19th place overall (1st place in two of the five events: swimming and equestrian show jumping)
  • 2004 Olympic Games, Athens, Triathlon, 23rd place
  • 2004 World Champion, Triathlon
  • 2000 Olympic Games, Sydney, Triathlon, 6th place
  • 1996 Olympic Games, Atlanta, Swimming, Gold medal in the 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay

The focus of the swim clinic is on the vital aspect of the freestyle stroke - the underwater high elbow position that is the source of propulsion for a swimmer. The clinic begins with an out-of-water classroom and Q & A session, and is then followed by a dry land and in-water swim session. Attendees will learn what it means to "feel" the water as well as how to develop the strength and flexibility that is required for fast swimming.

For 10 lucky people there is the opportunity to have your pre-race dinner (Nov 12) with Sheila. What an awesome way to rub shoulders with a World Champion and Olympic gold medalist and to get a few race tips. Ticket is USD75 which includes dinner, a copy of Sheila's book "Call the Suit" and a lot of fun!
